Pocket Legends Online for Mobile

Pocket Legends is an advanced, mobile MMO (Massively Multi-player Online) game, pushing the limits of Android games in the Market!

Pocket Legends has been extremely successful thus far on iOS devices like the iPhone and iPad. Now, with the Android version released, you can play with others running both Android and iOS.

Game Details:
To get started, either register with your email address or select “Just Try It!” to jump right in. There are three character classes to choose from: warrior, enchantress, and archer. Give your character a name and hit “Create”. Now you’re ready to go!

As a new player, you’ll be dropped into a solo area where you can play around with the controls and acquaint yourself with the interface. To move, either tap where you’d like to go or use the virtual joystick in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen. Swipe your finger to rotate the view around your character and use pinch controls to zoom in/out. Below your name in the top left of the interface are the meters showing your health, mana, and experience (xp). The large button in the bottom right is your attack button. After selecting an enemy, tap your attack button to engage. There are additional icons responsible for potions, maps, chat, etc. you’ll want to get used to as well.

The quest system is implemented flawlessly in this Android game, which is a great way to learn about the world, meet other players, gain xp, and earn valuable gold/loot. To start quests, look for NPCs (Non-Player Characters) with a yellow exclamation point above their head. When you’ve completed the objective, the exclamation point will turn into a question mark and you can collect your reward.

As you gain xp and level up, you’ll earn attribute points which you can spend on your character’s strength, dexterity, intelligence, etc. Similarly, you will also earn skill points which improve your character’s unique powers. To access these areas, as well as where to buy items, inspect your inventory, check on quests, view friends, etc. either click on your name from the main interface, or press the menu button on your Android device.

Game Review:
I must admit, I ended up playing this game for a couple hours after initially creating my character and capturing screenshots for this review. Pocket Legends is one of the most impressive Android games I’ve come across so far. Huge development work must’ve been invested in creating quests, balancing character classes, and in general supporting a MMO environment. The graphics were surprisingly smooth and reminded me of many computer-based MMORPGs like World of Warcraft. I did not experienced any lag or connection issues while running this game on my Android 2.1 Samsung Vibrant over WiFi. Next goal: engage in some PvP (Player vs. Player) combat!
Pros:

  • Free to play (register for additional worlds and access to character levels 10-15)
  • “Pick-up-and-play” nature makes it very easy to get started and come back to
  • iOS and Android users play together in the same realms
  • Fantastic graphics and player interactions for a mobile MMO

Areas for improvement:
  • Release a paid “full” version with all areas unlocked to avoid issues with buying Platinum

Conclusion: An incredibly addicting, sophisticated Android MMO game!
